How I Cleared Up My Acne
Today, I'm talking about how I got my skin to (finally!) clear up.
I have talked about this before, but the last 8 months or so, I have been under a lot of stress doing my internship, working, blogging and everything else. I started to notice my skin would break out randomly, but after a few months I started to realize that it looked HORRIBLE. I had to wear double the foundation to cover the redness and acne, and I was using so many different products, desperate for it to clear up.
For the most part, I have always had clear skin. But then suddenly I was dealing with acne and I wasn't sure what to do. After way too long of dealing with this, I went and saw the esthetician at Aveda and she talked to me about my skin, and what she thought was happening. I got it dermaplanned (which is amazing, by the way!) and she went through my entire skin care line and I realized I was using EVERYTHING wrong. I was using all the wrong products, and way too much of them. And I think when your skin breaks out that bad, you get kind of desperate so you reach for that spot treatment at the drugstore (which turned out to be actually making my acne way worse)
I want to share what she told me, because it honesty changed my skin. I got an entirety new skin care line and she wrote down the instructions and I did EXACTY what she said for a few weeks and my skin cleared up, it was amazing! My skin had been horrible for 7 months because of stress (mostly) and then after just a few weeks, it cleared up.
This post isn't sponsored by Aveda or anybody, I just wanted to share my experience and what I learned and how I FINALLY cleared up my newly found acne.
First thing she taught me was that you have to be consistent with your skin care routine. Which I am in the sense that I do it every morning and night, but also products. Switching products too often confuses your skin and makes it worse, especially when it's already bad. This was my routine:
Cleanse, Tone, Moisturize, Eye Cream
Pre-cleanse, Tone/Treat, Moisturize, Eye Cream
Cleanse: Aveda Botanical Kinetics Cream Cleaner for everyday, and Aveda Outer Peace Cleanser twice a week
Aveda Botanical Kinetics Toning Mist for Morning
Aveda Tulasara Eye Cream Everyday
** I did not use an exfoliates, just because dermaplanning is a procedure done that is intensely exfoliating **
Some other suggestions she gave me that I used and took was:
Clean your cell phone, the germs from pressing it against your face cause breakouts, change your pillow case EVERY night, don't touch your face (at all, unless your are cleansing) drink tons of water, eat healthier, stop drying your skin out with drugstore products with alcohol, to make your acne way worse.
There you have it! My best tips of how I cleared up my acne once and for all!
Also, read my post here about not wearing foundation anymore!
I love you all, thanks for reading!
